SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an email security system, that is used to verify if an e-mail message was sent by an official server. Using SPF protection for a given domain will prevent the forging of email addresses created with the domain. In layman's terms: enabling this feature for a domain name creates a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which contains the IP addresses of the servers that are permitted to send emails from mail boxes using the domain. Once this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Any time some email message is sent, the initial DNS server it goes through tests whether it originates from an official server. If it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, however if it does not originate from a server listed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it is discarded. Thus nobody can mask an email address to make it look as if you are e-mailing spam. This method is also referred to as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Web Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for every domain hosted in a web hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with no more than a few mouse-clicks. The function can be found in the Emails section of our innovative Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to enable it is to select one of your domains from the drop-down menu and then type in the hostnames as well as the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers which will be permitted to send emails from your emails. As an additional option you can even restrict the messages to be sent from your domain name only if it has our MX records, i.e. when our servers manage the email addresses for it, not a third-party supplier. This solution offers you the highest level of protection, but it's not applicable when only your website is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain name are taken care of in a different place. Regardless, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses secure from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you host your domains in a semi-dedicated server account with us, you will be able to take advantage of the SPF protection feature as part of the regular collection of services that you will get with this type of web hosting. Starting the protection will involve only several easy steps within the Hepsia Control Panel, thus even in case you've never used this type of function before, you won't have any kind of problems. Employing a really easy to work with interface, you will simply have to input the information of the mail server which will be permitted to send messages from your email addresses - its hostname (mail.server.com) and IP address (IPv4 or IPv6). Once the recently generated record propagates, no one will be able to forge any e-mail address for that particular domain and send out messages from a server other than the one you've entered. This doesn't necessarily have to be our mail server, still in case we handle your email messages, you will be able to activate an additional level of security by choosing an option that e-mail messages can be send out from addresses @your-domain.com only in case the domain employs our MX records. Our tech support team can assist you 24/7 if you have any questions regarding this service.
